Music of the Week: The Black Pacific

Anyone who is a fan of Pennywise has heard of the Black Pacific, since Jim Lindberg is the vocalist. But to anyone out there who hasnt heard of them, they just released their first, self-titled, album. Its an amazing album, and even though they have the vocalist from Pennywise, they have a bit different of a sound, more hard rock than punk. Anyway heres a link to their site and a few of my favorite songs from their album:

Music of the Week: False Idle

Ive decided to put up some new music that i have just discovered once a week, whether it be a band, album, song or whatever, im always trying to build that library for long roadtrips.
So for this week Ive chosen the band False Idle. I kinda stumbled upon them while just browsing the internet wasting time. I just thought it was hilarious because its definitely not your typical punk music, but then again thats what being a punk is all about.  Heres a link to their site, I recommend listening to "Old Rugged Cross", i actually kinda liked it.

The Whiny Bitch Factor

Just a few months ago I was in my truck on the way to the beach, and my ipod was on shuffle. At the time I didnt even know who the Gorilla Biscuits were, and so when "Start Today" came on I was like, this sucks, he sounds like a whiny little bitch, and i figured it had to be one of these new "punk" bands, and sure enough when i looked at my ipod, it was none other than fall out boy. In the title name it said (Gorilla Biscuits Cover), so then i listened to the original and instantly decided this is one of the many things that separates real punk bands, from a group of sellouts, where its all about the $$$. Anthony Civarelli, Gorilla Biscuits vocalist, has a raspy raw true sound to his voice, but fall out boy's singer sounds like a 13 yr old girl. I call this The Whiny Bitch Factor. But dont take my word for it, check it out for yourself--->

Punk is not Pop

Pop-punk is non-existent genre of music. Why? Because it contradicts itself. Pop, is short for popular, as in popular music, mainstream. Punk is more than just a three-chord structure , its a mindset, an ideology.
The obvious rebuttal is that when a punk band becomes popular, they are pop-punk. This is absurd because in order to get popular they had to sell out, which goes completely against the punk attitude. Compromising on your message because the record company doesnt want any lawsuits is not what we punks stand for. There are some exceptions, anti-flag for example, they pretty much sold out around the time For Blood and Empire came out, but at least their lyrics still convey what they believe, and Justin Sane doesnt  have that whiny bitch voice that alot of these "pop punk" bands vocalists seem to have these days.
Im currently working on getting a music player on here, but on playlist.com i could only find about half of the songs i was looking for and thats the best thing ive come across so far.
Feel free to reply, i can argue all day, well at least until its time to go to work again...

First Post!

Welcome!
Music is an awesome thing. The more you listen to it the more you will discover and the less room you will have on your ipod. I created this blog to show the world the difference between real punk bands playing good music and what our society today considers as "punk", which is about as close to real punk as any any politician is too taking a stance on... anything. I’m gonna apologize now for everyone i am going to offend with my social commentary; not really if you are offended too bad for you. Also, I guess there a genre of music called pop-punk, and ill explain why it doesn’t exist later on when I have more time to write.Basically I just want to share my findings in the music world and help promote those bands out there that are true punk rockers. That’s all I got for now, but I will be updating this blog on a regular basis once I get it going.
